The 2015 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a powerful, intense bouquet of well-defined layers of black rather than red fruit, infused with flint and smoke and showing some stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and very well judged acidity; it is backward at the moment, but so focused and persistent that it will surely mature into an extremely fine Grand Cru. God invented wine so he could drink this (probably). Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
